Busy week…
I can’t believe a week has gone by since I’ve sat down to this blog. September is proving to be one of my busiest months yet. But I’m managing to keep up with my deadlines, which is good. :) I finished checking the page proofs on Abigail and turned them in a week early. The more I read this story, the more I love it. I can’t wait to hold the finished product in my hands. :)
I did some shopping for a new outfit this past week. It took me two visits to the same store to finally decide on the right look for a photo shoot I’m having done the week after next. We’re hoping to take the pictures here:
Praying it doesn’t rain.
Other deadlines have been whittled down, so this week my focus is two-fold. Dive back into rewrites on Bathsheba and prepare for my two oldest boys to come home for a visit! They land in Detroit very early Friday morning, so going to bed early this week should be a priority, but given my track record, it’s not too likely. We only get them for a few days, and they won’t be here for just us though we’re anxious to snag as much time as we can! They’re coming home to stand up in a wedding. They fly back next Monday. We talked yesterday on Skype for a while – hadn’t had the chance to do so for several days. They were away at a convention and then had returned home sick. Fortunately, they appear to be on the mend. California weather agrees with them. I will admit, warmer weather year round sounds wonderful!
Yesterday friends of ours called and invited us to lunch and to visit a small town festival where a steam train was making a stop. Our families have history with the railroads as both of our grandfathers used to work for different lines. Randy’s grandfather worked on the Nickle Plate in Ohio, mine for various lines in Duluth and Marquette. So we went and had a great time. The weather has been absolutely beautiful.
Today I finished Bible study and Book Club questions for Abigail. My webmasters are almost ready to put Abigail’s section up on The Wives of King David website. So I needed to get the content written or all they would have had was the graphics! :)
I’m also reading an old book that I should have read years ago, that I wish I had assigned to my guys when we homeschooled, but perhaps they will appreciate it more as adults – as I do – if they choose to read it now. It’s currently being reprinted by Revell though I have an earlier copy. You may have heard of it – God’s Smuggler. I am enthralled with this story!
We had a guest speaker at church this morning. I’m still pondering that message. Great food for thought. He spoke on Romans 1 and explained why Paul was not ashamed of the gospel because it was the only way for us to be saved, and why we even need saving from our state of sinfulness. But we lie to ourselves and suppress God’s truth. If we really trusted God with our whole heart, with every detail of our lives and not just say we trust Him but really trust Him, knowing He is fully capable of handling what we give to Him – how much of a difference would that make in the way we live? I wonder…
Selah and Shalom~
